Man threatening Muslim shopkeeper in Delhi

The Delhi Police has documented a FIR after a video arose on social media in which a man is purportedly heard compromising a Muslim businessperson for opening his biryani shop in Sant Nagar region here on the event of Diwali, authorities said on Saturday. The police said they took suo motu cognisance of the video.

In the video, the charged presents himself as Naresh Kumar Suryavanshi, an individual from traditional gathering Bajrang Dal. He is heard telling the laborers of the shop that Sant Nagar is a Hindu region and compromising them against opening the shop on any celebration, the police said.


The retailer and his laborers shut the shop before long. The video was recorded around 9pm on Thursday and later flowed on social media, they said.

In the wake of taking cognisance of the video and checking current realities, a case was enlisted under Section 295A (intentional and vindictive demonstrations planned to shock strict sensations of any class by offending its religion or strict convictions) of the Indian Penal Code at Burari police station, a senior police official said.

An examination is in progress to find out the character of the charged and catch him, the official said.
